September 2008 from McCain;

The fundamentals of our economy are strong.”

September 2008 from Harper;

The fundamentals of our economy are strong.

Maybe they’re sharing a speech writer? Or does Harper just like doing this regurgitation on a regular basis? Is he so environmentally friendly that he even recycles speeches? Another prime example would Harper’s clever reuse of Australian Prime Minister John Howard’s speech back in March 2003, a mere 2 days after Howard delivered the original. (Cut to Owen Lippert receiving  the obligatory “scapegoat cheque” as he hands in his resignation earlier today, hanging his head in shame.)

For those of us that missed it the first time around.

For those of us that missed it the first time around.

The markets are in free fall, the House said no thank you to shouldering the enormous debt left by crap ass decisions and I can almost hear the chewing of nails all the way over here in Canada. Do we now expect the window jumping chaos reminiscent of the market crash in ‘87 or should we (re)usher in that fantastic late 20’s depression era joy?

I have no doubt that they’ll pull it outta their asses at the 11th hour but the resulting crash from the no vote will take time to recover. Time that some people just don’t have as they grapple frantically to keep their homes and jobs. One might say that shit has officially hit the fan.

It was a pretty powerful fan too and the crap is flying everywhere.

Just when you think it’s time to pull out the scarves & sweaters Ron Burgundy busts out one of these;

Indian summer

Indian summer

This is cold beer on a warm beach kinda weather. The smell of bbq and sunblock. Even Maggi agrees (but she’s a lush, so no surprise there.)

Well, amid the beer & bbq ribs and despite the ridiculous 6pm start, we managed to sit through the debate last night and here is my own personal highlight reel;

McCain pronounces “Taliban“  as though he’s saying “lollipop.

Obama called McCain “Tom” & “Jim.” (Laughed so freaking hard)

McCain most often referred to “The next President” or “Who ever is President” while Obama used phrases like; “When I am President” or “As President I will….”

McCain- “We are winning the war in Iraq. We will come home with victory.” (insert gagging chocking noise)

Obama- “I think the first question is whether we should have gone into this war in the first place”.

McCain- “We cannot afford a second holocaust”. (A second? are you fucking kidding me?)

Beginings of a little hell

Beginnings of a little hell

I’m a little bit livid right now. I am taking deep breaths and reminding myself that I have only viewed snippets of the Provincial Public Enquiry into The false imprisonment of David Milgaard and the long sad story that followed. It is difficult to read. What has me so fucking mad right now is this;

“Joyce Milgaard was aggressive in her efforts to get information and in the process alienated witnesses and caused problems for her lawyers.” and her focus on proving wrong doing by Justice Officials…. “caused her to spend time pursing leads that were without merit.”

Now correct me if I’m wrong here, but how is her spending her time pursuing leads that were “without merit” even remotely relevant? Who cares how she spends her fucking time? Her job should never have had to be clearing her son and proving such a grand miscarriage of justice in the first place! She was probably annoying as hell and had little to go on other than her fervent belief in her son’s innocence. Mock that naive faith all you want because in the end she was right! (more…)

Surprise, surprise! McCain has agreed to grace the political stage with his presence for the debate tonight. Gee, didn’t see that coming.

However, what I do see coming is this;

“I froze my campaign to assist the people of this great nation. I did so in the countries best interest and at great personal sacrifice to my Presidential campaign. Having lost the race for Presidency, I can sleep well at night knowing that I made the tough but correct choice, but I still can’t believe I chose Palin. What the fuck was I thinking?” Thank you and goodnight.”

Dear Asshole,

You are the bimbo in the little blue car that cut myself and the cyclist off in front of PetroCan this morning because you were too fucking busy yammering on your cell phone to bother paying attention to the road or the other people on it. Looking at me and giggling with that “oops, my bad” look on your face Didn’t help. Let me tell you something little one; being pretty is not an excuse for being an idiot no matter what Paris Hilton says. I hope you get a festering boil.
