Will be an interesting weekend…….. The best friend of almost 30 years will meet the boyfriend of almost 5 months. I’m looking forward to it immensely. Though for the most part an extremely kind person, she does love a bit of an inquisition now and then. My guess is that she will adore him and her lovely husband Stanny-stan-stan will abduct him and they will spend the evening alternating between discussing on line poker and playing video games. Susin & I will smoke and get quietly drunk outside after the Chinese food deliciousness.

“LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A man who prompted protests by hanging an effigy of U.S. Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin by a noose from his home at Halloween has removed the display because it was causing too much trouble.

Chad Michael Morrisette had dressed a mannequin to resemble the Alaska governor, complete with beehive hairstyle and her trademark glasses, and hung it by the neck from the eaves of his home in famously liberal West Hollywood.

In the run-up to next Tuesday’s election, this triggered counter-protests and a visit by the U.S. Secret Service, although officials concluded he had violated no law.

“It was just creating such a disturbance. There were helicopters circling overhead, counter protesters,” Jake Stevens, spokesman for West Hollywood Mayor Jeffrey Prang, said in explaining why Morrisette agreed to remove the effigy. (more…)

McCain on Larry King Live last night referring to Sarah Palin;

“She’s a quick study.”

May I just remind you Sen. McCain that the most important job of the future Vice President is to step in and take over should the big guy be unable. Seeing as you are 4 million years old, the likelihood of that should you guys win next week is reasonably high. And you have the gall to say to the American people that she’s a quick study?! Are you on crack? The position of Vice President of the USA is hardly an entry level position designed for training purposes! Americans, you should be afraid! VERY AFRAID!

Now, having said that and shaking my head in absolute bafflement, I do have to give him top marks for this one, also on Larry King, about whether or not Colin Powell’s endorsement of Obama was race related;

Senator Ted Stevens was found G-U-I-L-T-Y of violating federal ethics laws when he failed to report $250,000 in gifts and services from friends that he used to renovate his home in Alaska. Though Sen. Stevens is the Senates longest serving Republican, in some circles he is better known for this little doozy that, with good reason, went viral.

“They want to deliver vast amounts of information over the Internet. And again, the Internet is not something that you just dump something on. It’s not a big truck. It’s a series of tubes. And if you don’t understand, those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and it’s going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material.”

The senate vote is next week and should he step out or be booted out, the Dem’s are one step closer to a Senate majority. Hope the built in bread maker and bonsai garden were worth it buddy, and if you do end up in the big house (doubtful) I hope the tubes there don’t get clogged.

Single-fucking-use people!

There is a reason that those smarmy little packages say “Single use only” and though I quite often ignore that warning when it comes to Starbucks paper coffee cups and disposable razors, one would assume a higher level of due diligence by the health care professionals involved. I’m pretty sure that whole “Universal Precautions” thing is a directive to be followed rather than a suggestion one can shrug off when not convenient. I’m sorry to be an asshole here but you simply cannot, under ANY circumstance, tell me that you didn’t know any better.

Since the Republican party is all over the “economic situation” in every little whistle stop in these last few campaigning days, it has shocked a great many of us that Tina Fey Palin has spent a whopping $150,00. on clothes, make up and hair for her and the fam. The highest paid person in her camp for the first 2 weeks of October was her make up artist. Seriously. Her freaking make up chick. One would think that those dollars would be better spent teaching her the basics about foreign policy or, god forbid, what the job she’s applying for actually is.

I find it very telling that the McCain camp deems it necessary to spend that kind of dough on her image rather than her substance. Perhaps they really did think that the voting public over there in the US of A would be swayed by a pretty face alone, regardless of how hollow the words may be.

If I were a US citizen, I’d sure as shit be insulted as all hell.

In other Palin is the worst choice for VP EVER news, it may not hold the same esteem as Colin Powell’s endorsement but the Anchorage Daily News endorsed Obama over the weekend. Let’s put that into perspective, shall we? Anchorage Daily News is the largest newspaper in Alaska. Sarah Palin is Governor of Alaska. They just endorsed Obama.

You just can’t make this shit up!
