Just a wee update before I slide back into an exhaustion coma………

The move is COMPLETE. Everything is unpacked, pictures on the walls, laundry done…. Yup, it looks like we’ve lived here for years because that’s the kind of gal I am. We fucking LOVE it!

Lucy is fitting in very well- poor little thing. She has so many issues I barely know where to start. Oh, yes I do- her teeth. Oh my fucking god. Never have I seen a dog with teeth this bad. I was going to upload a picture from the webs of random bad teeth but they almost made me puke so I’ll spare you. Imagine the worst teeth ever and those would be better than little Lucy’s. Her breath smells like ass and rot. We go to the vet today and I fear I will be shelling out quite a few shekels…….

She’s sweet, shy, sad, skittish, slightly hunched has no idea how to drink out of a bowl, has bad vision and on day four, is already acting like an entirely new dog. She’s standing a little straighter, walking around with more confidence, and napping comfortably without jumping 10ft at every noise. Oh, and she cuddles. A lot. Even Maggi seems to love her. She wagged her tail yesterday and I nearly cried.

The little one arrives after work today in the midst of moving chaos and I am still going back and forth on her name. Seeing as she was rescued “nameless” the field is wide open. Lilly is Steve’s favorite so far but I am stuck on Luca (C’mon, I know you’re all singing it in your head… “My name is Luca, I live on the second floor….”) Who knows, maybe I’ll look into her eyes and just know that her name is Constantinople……

So this is my last post before the move & the dog, and though I’ve said that before, this time I mean it. As my last few have been so filled with nothing that the black hole of nothing is sucking me into oblivion, I’m sure that you’re all very glad. I shall be back in a few days with pics of our smarmy new pad and beautiful new pup Stella/Lilly/Luca/Constantinople/Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Let the games begin.

So the move is Friday and I’m working and I’m losing my mind….. I still have so much to do. Low and behold, the rescue dog that I have been inquiring about and attempting to adopt is suddenly BAM! arriving on my doorstep tomorrow!. The timing is not ideal, but then again, neither is living in a cage for 4 years at a puppy mill because they don’t want anyone to see the fact that she was born with only 1 eye. It’s too “unsightly.” Maggi will take a day or two to adjust, but once she realizes it isn’t going anywhere, the new dog will become “hers”.

I’m dropping out of blog sight for a few days while I check off the 8 bazillion things on my many moving/new dog lists, but before I do, here is the picture I was sent of my new girlie.

This is Stella

Update; I just found out that she has only been “Stella” for 24 hours because they don’t know her original name. Since we won’t be screwing with her head, we have decided on Lilly. So….. everyone, meet Lilly.

Remember when my surgery date got bumped up and I freaked out? Well, it’s happened again and I am once more freaking out. This time around however, it’s a good freak out. As in can’t contain myself holyfuckholyfuck I’m exhausting myself with excitement kind of freak out.

Our moving date has been bumped from July 31 to Friday.

Yes, as discussed previously, I am one of the seven people on the planet that actually likes moving. Wait- that’s really not a strong enough word- I fucking ADORE moving. (It hasn’t been confirmed, but I may have been dropped on my head as a child.) I may not be around the interwebs for a bit, but rest assured, I have not been hit by a bus, I will be too busy obsessing over which wall to hang BB King or some other such ground breaking decision.

Steve is equally excited for one reason, and one reason only, as per our conversation last night.

“Hey Babe! Only 4 more days and you get your normal girlfriend back!”

“I better!”

The world is alight with news of Iran. The election, the demonstrations, the death, and the denial, have reached us in the western world in an unprecedented way. As the masses took to the streets in Tehran and the world was flooded with those images, I honestly believe that Ahmadinejad was shocked. Genuinely shocked. This wouldn’t have happened 15 years ago, hell, even 5 years ago it would have been a different story. Steal the election, or at the very least, grossly overstate your margin of win and move on. Protests? Sprinkle in some violence and fear and that will settle the masses, right? Not so much anymore because we are watching. The media blackout means nothing as anyone with a cell phone or a twitter account and an Internet connection can bring us along for the ride.

I’m sure there are those that would love to see Mousavi imprisoned, or even killed, but the days where that would be quietly possible are long passed. Whether or not he would have been the correct political choice is no longer even the question. Mousavi has become a martyr, a symbol of the fight for justice. People- young, old, professional and peasant- have taken to the streets to call bullshit. Even the outright threat of deadly retaliation by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini, who renounces the demonstrations and backs the election results, has had little affect on the fervor of the Iranian people. I imagine Ahmadinejad is pissed because it wasn’t supposed to happen this way.

We in the west, we in the rest of the world, weren’t supposed to be watching.

If you’re sick of hearing about my garden, you might want to take this opportunity to go to the bathroom, get a snack, masturbate, whatever.

After giving up on the garden that is apparently radioactive, or just plain spiteful, my tomatoes, jalapeno, & basil are flourishing in their non-Chernobyl containers. I scattered the toxic garden with wild flowers and crossed my fingers.

And suddenly, shit is beginning to happen. This is Chernobyl, revisited.

Steve will hate me for this post, but… whatever. I’m writing it without his permission because that’s the kind of girl I am.

So, as of today, Steve & I have been [insert whichever verb you feel is appropriate] to each other for a year, which in my world, is a record of sorts. I’ve always said that I’m built for speed, not distance. Some days I love that crazy asshat so hard that I want to cut him into little pieces. I would eat a few and carry a few around in my purse. The rest I would scatter around my home and office so that I could pick them up and fondle them lovingly.  Is that weird?

(Wait- will this post get me put on some sort of watch list somewhere? Is that what popularity feels like?)
