I gave myself a rather nasty little burn last week which I didn’t whine about here. (I have NO idea why the hell not because it hurt like a sonofabitch!) It’s on the outside of my wrist. My aim in pouring the freshly boiled water into the freshly ground coffee waiting in the press was, uhm, shall we say lacking?

So…. it began as a flaming red patch, which turned into a weird looking glossy white/pinkish thing, which then morphed into a strange black/brown gangrenous hue.

It now looks like this;

Pay particular attention to the dry rolled up lizard like flesh around the edges. It’s super attractive. The brand new shiny pink skin under the shriveled pieces is really creepy. I kind of can’t stop looking at it. And touching it. And kind of poking it a little.

Yeah. Like I said;

Creepy.

um. barf. wtf did you do?

Jeannie Says:

I like poking at wounds too. Very satisfying. Getting them in the first place isn’t much fun though.

So I’ve actually been looking at this picture without clicking the link to read the story because I was trying like hell to figure out where that could possibly be on your body. Wrist makes way more sense than “back of the knee.” That’s what I came up with.

Obviously, I missed my called by deciding not to go to medical school.

shine Says:

Calling. I missed my calling. Ugh.

I twisted my wrist rock climbing and it’s really hard to type. And think. But I’m pretty sure the thinking problem has nothing to do with my wrist.

Kim Says:

Shine- with diagnostic skills like that- i would totally let you be my doctor!!!!

Brian Smart Says:

Scars are cool for guys but I don’t know if the same thing is true for ladies. I have one on my neck from a skate blade and one on my ass from when I crased a moped at Octoberfest dressed only in a silly hat and boxer shorts. My daughter has one where an ostrich bit her. Coffe pot scar - not sure about the relative coolness of that.

LiLu Says:

I was just wondering what color to paint our new living room. “Gangrenous”, here I come!

Kim Says:

Brian- if it scars I will come up with a far more cool story!
Lilu- I wonder if you’ll be able to find a matching couch. Such a lovely shade……

Ewwww I wanna touch it! I kept poking at the giant open wound on my foot last night. It hurt and made me kinda nauseated but I couldn’t stop. Yours is cooler.

Burns: the pain that keeps on giving.

Karen Moore Says:

You might not have whined about it “here”, but you did whine about it “HERE” and we’ve had to watch each step of the icky healing process. Now you post a pic? Where’s Lucy, or Maggie or one of your alphabet letter groups of pics? I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.

Kim Says:

Have I mentioned that I occasionally throw staplers at my receptionist?

k8 Says:

I love my scars. They make me wicked looking. But burn scars are hard to heal. Cover it when you go out in the sun or it will turn purple forever. I don’t just play a doctor on tv. I work for a plastic surgeon. I smart like that.

Kim Says:

Thank you Dr. K8 I shall heed your warning!
;)

Dusty Says:

lol..you freak! ;)

If I had a buck for every time I burned myself..I go fly to OK and see my son.

Kim Says:

lol!

Kimberly Says:

To late for this burn, but just in case there may be others, go out and buy a bottle of pure aloe vera gel and keep it handy. They don’t call it the burn plant for nothing.
