to desire the replica

It’s hard to view the election south of the border as anything other than historic. There is the possibility of the first very female VP (though I’d rather dig my eye out with a fucking spoon than see that–not because it’s a woman–because it’s that woman.) The right of American women to vote was passed in 1920 and there are still some among the population that remember those violent days of the suffragette movement. Today they witness the possibility of a woman holding the number 2 spot in American politics. The other option on the ballot would put the first African America man in the top dog spot in the White House. Racism still runs rampant in some areas and it wasn’t that long ago that government sanctioned segregation was a harsh reality. Those men and woman made to feel less than human and unable to “consort” with us whiteys are now standing proud as history is being made.

Whatever the out come (GO BAMA!) this election smashes two barriers that have been far too long in the making. It is a moment in time that takes my breath away and sprinkles a faint dusting of hope for the possibility that our ridiculous species can be better than we have been.

Wasn’t there a female Canadian PM for like five minutes? I remember her being vile.

I will be either very, very happy or very, very sad later. I’m thinking happy.

Kim Says:

Yeah, Kim Campbell…. We’re LIGHT YEARS ahead of you guys in that respect. ;)
As for happy/sad later, if I were you I’d go for option #3
Drunk.

greg Says:

That’s not an option. That is an empirical fact.
