to desire the replica

As the detainees trickle out of Guantanamo one by one back into the world that they were ripped from more than a half a dozen years ago, we had better prepare ourselves for some real life horror stories. Some of these men will be pushed back into society after years of torture without having ever been charged with anything. This will be the stuff that keeps you up at night and makes you feel sickly feverish. It will make you feel this way because it’s real.

And it was all government sanctioned.

And we will never get to see Cheney & Bush on trail at The Hague.

Reminds me of Eddie Izzard’s routine about mass murderers. “You killed how many millions? Wow, I can’t even get out of bed in the morning…”

I’d love to see Bush and Cheney brought before a war crimes tribunal. You’re right. It won’t happen. Because then the American people have to take part of the blame. And we should. But we won’t. America: the myth is always preferable to the reality.

It does make me wonder how the era will be taught in schools and what text books will say and what that generation will grow up believing.

The fact that the war was started under false pretenses (or as I like to say; A BIG FAT LIE) will be lost in the history books- it will be rewritten to highlight the USA “bringing democracy to a backwards nation.”

This is just terrifying, many of them who have been there for years will have no idea what to do with themselves, how to be, or act or trust. There are just too many things to be considered.

I am so embarrassed by the U.S. that they voted for Bush. Just today I was at the gym and I was ranting and raving saying “I don’t know who the hell voted for that idiot but it wasn’t me and I’m embarrassed for anyone to think it was” this I said in front of old people republicans who know damn well they did. It’s truly embarrassing.

What started me off were people talking negative about a clearly intelligent man who has only been President for a month. Bush was never, not once, clearly intelligent and these assholes want to make bad comments on Obama? Give him a year and maybe then, if he is not progressing I’ll listen to a republican, no actually maybe after four years since we gave that idiot 8!

It was not our right to bring democracy to any other nation than our own, I always thought that was called “dictating”
That’s what’s really embarrassing is we looked like a bunch of cowboys taking over like we could do whatever we want, whenever we want, however we want. That’s not what I want people to think of me, I’m an arrogant American taking over the world!
I want countries to like me when I vacation there– oh yeah that’s where the Canadian flag comes in!

I better watch my anger or they won’t let me in the mil and I really want to get into the mil.;-)

I think that’s how a lot of people are feeling- and hoping that Obama can start to turn that global feeling around.
