to desire the replica

The election has just begun. They have not so politely asked for a media black out on terrorist activities for fear of people deciding not to vote. Not to chance their lives to vote.

Take a step back.

Take a deep breath.

Take just a second out of your day to understand how truly lucky we are.

Then, take a look around and see what you can do to help. Even a little.

Small steps make us global.

Oh my god. Wow. You have no idea how much of an eye-opener this is for me. Thank you so much for sharing. I’m a bad comment-writer, but seriously, I love this post. We are so amazingly lucky in our country and we don’t even realize it. We don’t even stop to think about it until we see news like this. I’m tweeting this.

Thanks again.

Kim Says:

I know exactly what you mean Taylor. It’s so easy to get caught up in our everyday stuff and then along comes something that smacks us in the face. We forget. Or, because it’s too overwhelming, we chose to not look.

Hannah Says:

Yep we are definitely fortunate not to live in a screwed up, backwards place like Afghanistan. I feel particularly bad for women and children who live there.

I’m confused. What is it you think I can do for the people of Afghanistan?

Kim Says:

I mean help in general- we’re fortunate in most ways so it’s important to remember that other parts of the world/county/your own neighborhood, might not be.

Brian Smart Says:

Fortunate indeed. Ironic you posted this today; one of the guys I hired to run our Youth Programs, brought him all the way from Ontario, was airlifted out of Whitehorse on Sunday to get CAT and MRI in Vancouver. He found out today he has several brain tumors. He is 29, married, and has his first child on the way. We are fortunate to have the means and facilities in place to look after him; if this were Afghanistan, he wouldn’t stand a chance.

Kim Says:

Very true. Very sad, but very true.

Dusty Says:

Every single day I thank the cloud gawd for being who I am and living where I live.

Life could be a helluva lot worse.

Kim Says:

I know- It almost makes me feel guilty.

I heard that many of the people of Afghanistan aren’t even going to vote in this election because they view it as a sham like the election they held when the Soviets were there. We do take a lot for granted over here on this continent.
